Gillette Brewing Company
“Very good casual brew pub”

Wanted a lighter casual meal and got it along with a couple brews. Pizza (we ordered Black and White) was very good, tasty crust. Now I like lager beers and normally pass on ale. Decided to try their local brew and was very pleasantly surprised. Locomotive Brown and Avenue Amber are ales and definitely worth trying. We found this place by chance passing through town. Stop if you are near. Not far from Interstate 90 in historic downtown. I would come by again.
“Best service, food always good.”

Second to none in service. They are on you the minute you walk in and are good at politely following up to see if you need anything. The menu and food is exactly the same as another Mexican restaurant in town run by relatives, but the quality of the food and service here is more consistent. Large menu, moderately priced, good food. Get there early for lunch, it's a small place and always packed.
“Locals? You sure are lucky!”

Off a long expanse of highway that seemed to stretch on forever, into downtown Gillette, we were two weary road travelers looking for a bite to eat. We ended up at The Coop and whoooo hooooo! were we ever psyched about this one! 14 days on the road, across 13 states, and our chicken pot pie and chicken chorizo taco lunch ranked in the TOP FIVE meals of the entire trip. Locals? You sure are lucky! Just traveling through? GO HERE!!
The Prime Rib Restaurant & Wine Cellar
“Excellent Food and Great Service”

I was in town by myself on business and my wife strongly recommended this place, so I stopped by for dinner. The staff was very courteous and the waitress attentive despite the fact that I was alone and so the overall check (and tip) wouldn't be as large as could be expected for a couple.
I ordered the prime rib, which was cooked perfectly and had easily the best texture and taste I've ever enjoyed with a prime rib. Even though I ordered the small size, there was more than enough food and I ended up getting a "people's bag" (their term, not mine) for the leftover bread (which is baked in-house and is also delicious). And at $26, I considered it a very good deal for the quantity and quality of food received.
I would strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice dinner out while in Gillette, WY.

Was not expecting much...but what a surprise. All for FREE admission, they do have a jar for donations. This is a lot larger than expected. They had a nice gun display, the history of Gillette, videos on coal mining, chuck wagons, saddles, and much more. In a separate building they had a couple of old cars, typesetting section, an old home and a few other things. The have a caboose outside you can walk in and two 1 room school buildings. Definitely something to check out if heading this way. Give yourself a good 2 hours to check out everything much more if you want to read alot.

The tour lasts 2 hours. The tour guide/bus driver was a former employer and was very knowledgeable of the operation. My teenage boys loved this tour. Gillette produces 39% of the nation's coal. The trucks are massive.

Is a very nice park, very well taken care and clean. Excellent for small kids. The lake is beautiful and you can fish. There is a path that goes around the lake approx 1 mile. Great for running, skates, bicycles, walk....
Big Lost Meadery

I had been introduced to mead when in New Zealand this year so was happy to find this place listed here in Gillette. We went there tonight and had a delightful visit with Anton. We were the only customers there so Anton explained about the process and gave us a tour of the back where they make the mead. My wife and I both had the Wild Man mead and liked it so much we bought a bottle to take home to Louisiana with us.
